I know, no resolutions here. Well I have a reason for that. Last week (or maybe during Christmas, too.) my life went in a completely new direction. Like we are on a train and someone pulled the switch and the train went onto a different track. The destination is still the same. We are just going a different way to get there.
So, my resolutions aren't exactly as relevant as they used to be. I've got to come up with some new ones. But this one will stay.
* I resolve to see Bruce Springsteen any and every time he comes to Florida this year.
So here is a benign story to hold you until I reveal the other stuff.
Gary and I each have our lists. You know what I am talking about. The list from the "Friends" episode that names 5 people that you can have a free pass to sleep with if the occasion ever arises. We have a few rules that must abide by. The person has to be a celebrity - no friends or anyone that is currently known to us. The person must reside outside of Florida. I made this rule when Gary tried to add a local news weather person to his list. Finally, the list must be known to each of us. No meeting a celebrity and immediately adding them to your list for an immediate free pass.
So the other day we were in a store and Gary saw a Carrie Underwood CD. He starts going on and on about how talented she is and how beautiful she is.
"She's on my list, you know." he says.
"I know. But you are old enough to be her dad, so don't forget you gross her out." I reply.
He continues to talk about her.
Finally I turn to him and point out. "Yeah, and I can't wait to go to London in April. You know 3 of the men on my list are British. I wonder if I will run into one of them? Oooh are you Clive Owen? You're on my list. Let's go!!!"
Gary doesn't miss a beat.
"New rule. You have to be on his list, too."
